My profession gives me the access to people’s lifestyle where I come across variety of mindsets, behaviors and beliefs. Being a psychologist is a challenge when it comes to work with Parents these days.
It won’t be a loud statement if I say, this generation of Parents is obsessed to their kids. Every inch and pinch of child’s life is controlled or manipulated by parents.
Today we are going to talk about the basic facts, which we miss out in a hassle of being perfect Parent.
What really we should pay attention at as a parent?
1. Emotional Needs:
We all have to accept that we are digitally occupied all day long. Though we are mentally into so much love with our children, we hardly can make out what exactly our child needs. If your child is often cranky, cries or hits frequently, does not listen to you, or behaves mischievous all the time, it means you as a parent somewhere wrong.
Every behaviors is a message to you. Recognize your child’s emotional needs first and fulfil it!
2. Screen Time:
It won’t be an exaggeration if I say, children today spend their life opposite to screen. Mobile, TV and computers are the toys of today’s children. Parents are so proud of providing these FACILITIES to kids!
Let me tell you how does the screen time affects your child’s development. It has direct impact on child’s cognitive development, motor development and emotions as well.
I strongly suggest, DO NOT allow screen time more than an hour to your child. You will see the visible difference in child’s behavior within 15 days.
3. Nutrition:
Pampered kids today has lot of fussy eating habits. Parents has number of options to choose from so called Healthy Options in the market.
If your child suffers from frequent viral issues, cough n cold and underweight, you are doing something seriously wrong with child’s food.
Being a psychologist and a Nutritionist, I strongly suggest to focus on Protein and calcium. Keep it simple. Do not choose any processed items such as frozen smileys, Maggie etc.
Diet guidance will be covered in further articles.
4. Sleep:
Last but not the least, sleep hours of your child is what matters the most. Remember, if your child is not sleeping 10 hours a night, causes direct damage to brain daily !
Nothing will work right if you are fail to give the appropriate amount of sleep to your child. Day sleep will not count here. Try to be disciplined for sleep timings and see the miracle !
I hope this article will help you go in a right direction of Parenting Journey. You can ask for more if you wish to!
